GRAND JUNCTION — A teenager said his attempt to steal guns from a sporting goods store was part of a plan to pay off restitution for stealing a gun in a previous case.
Broc Riddle, 16, was sentenced Friday to a four-year deferred sentence on a felony burglary conviction. Riddle and another teenager were taken into custody by a SWAT team Nov. 12 after a four-hour standoff at Gene Taylor’s Sporting Goods.
Riddle told Judge Mesa County District Court Judge Thomas Deister that what he did was a stupid decision and was wrong.
