GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Whitewater teen accused of claiming to have a bomb on board a school bus has had his case moved from adult court to the juvenile justice system.
Mesa County District Judge Brian Flynn made that decision Tuesday in the case of the 16-year-old boy.
District Attorney Pete Hautzinger initially charged the teen as an adult with multiple felonies, saying that the seriousness of the allegations and the boy’s own criminal history warranted it.
Flynn dropped some counts for lack of evidence and moved other adult charges to the juvenile system, including possession of an incendiary device, felony menacing and false reporting of explosives.
The incident allegedly occurred January 29th.
The teen is scheduled to appear in juvenile court Friday.
