COLORADO SPRINGS—President Bush pardoned two Colorado Springs men who were prosecuted more than 10 years ago for violating the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

Jerry Lynn Moldenhauer and Thomas Donald Moldenhauer were both pardoned this week for “knowingly selling migratory bird parts.” There was no explanation for the pardon.

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act forbids the possession and sale of live or dead migratory birds, including their eggs, feathers, and nests.

U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman Jeff Dorschner says the men were prosecuted in Denver in 1994 but provided no details of their cases.

President Bush has issued 157 pardons during his time in office. That’s about half the number of pardons as Presidents Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan.
