BOULDER, Colo.—A University of Colorado freshman suspected of throwing a mirror out from the 12th floor of his dorm has been charged with felony second-degree assault and misdemeanor third-degree assault.

Prosecutors chose not to also charge 19-year-old Rolf William Johnson with reckless endangerment, a charge campus police had recommended.

Twenty-year-old Joshua Moran was seriously injured March 21 when the mirror fell on his head outside the residence hall. A 19-year-old CU student suffered minor injuries to her foot.

Johnson declined to comment Friday.
