ALBANY, N.Y. — Billy Sauer made 27 saves to help Michigan advance to the Frozen Four with a 2-0 victory over Clarkson on Saturday night in the East Regional final.
Freshman Aaron Palushaj opened the scoring in the first period, and captain Kevin Porter added a third-period goal and had an assist for the top-ranked Wolverines (33-5-4). Porter had four goals Friday night in Michigan’s victory over Niagara.
David Leggio made 30 saves for Clarkson (22-13-4).
Michigan, the CCHA regular-season and tournament champion, will play Notre Dame on April 10 in the semifinals of the Frozen Four in Denver. The Irish downed Michigan State 3-1 in the West Regional final.
