Witnesses say a motorcyclist was driving 100 mph in a 30 mph zone when he crashed his bike in Pueblo overnight, injuring himself and a passenger.
The high-speed crash happened at about midnight near the intersection of Jones and Belmont avenues, Pueblo police said in a statement.
Twenty-year-old Edward Fresquez was driving a 2007 Honda CBR 600RR motorcycle when it hit a drainage dip and bottomed out, police said.
Fresquez lost control of the bike and laid it on its side, sliding about 230 feet before coming to a stop.
Fresquez and Candace Fresquez were taken to St. Mary Corwin Hospital where they were in serious condition, police said.
Fresquez told police he was driving at about 80 mph when he lost control, police said.
Witnesses told police the bike was going 100 mph.
