The Colorado mountains and other parts of the state should get snow and wet weather today as back-to-back fronts, one this morning and another this afternoon, pass through.
In Denver, cloudy skies could bring two inches of snow this afternoon and this evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory for parts of the Colorado mountains through 6 p.m.
The deepest snow accumulations, up to 8 inches in some areas, are expected in the northern and central mountains along the Continental Divide, the Weather Service reports.
Some mountain areas should see a late morning and early afternoon lull before the second front, which will be dropping out of the north, hits the state.
Drivers and travelers in the mountains should be aware of winds gusting up to 25 mph and blowing snow, causing limited visibilities.
The Vail forecast today calls for cloudy skies, snow showers with up to 3 inches of accumulation, and a high temperature near 38 degrees.
The second weather front is expected to move out overnight, and skies should be clearing and dry by tomorrow.
In Denver, rain and snow mixed this morning and the metro area could see another rain and snow mix this afternoon, the Weather Service said.
Snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is expected in Denver, with higher amounts west of Interstate 25, the Weather Service said.
Friday in Denver baseball fans should enjoy mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 50s as the Colorado Rockies open the 2008 home season at Coors Field.
Saturday should be mostly sunny in Denver, with a high temperature in the lower 60s.
