COLORADO SPRINGS — Police continue to search for a Colorado Springs woman after her live-in boyfriend shot himself to death as officers came to her apartment looking for her, authorities say.
Bekime Elshani, 22, has been listed as missing since Monday, said Lt. Skip Arms, a Colorado Springs police spokesman.
Officers went to Elshani’s apartment, at 6228 Twin Oaks Drive, on Monday after friends and family reported they were unable to reach her and were concerned for her welfare, Arms said. As they arrived, they heard a gunshot and later found the body of Elshani’s boyfriend, Daniel Dereer, 25, who had shot himself to death, he said.
Officers who investigated the apartment after Dereer killed himself have found no evidence that Elshani is dead, Arms said. “It’s a mystery at this point,” he said.
Elshani was last seen early Saturday morning.
