VAIL—A 32-year old man who died after an accident at Vail Mountain in the state’s 17th fatality at a resort was from Lakewood.
Martin Fierro died shortly after Vail Ski Patrol responded to a call at about 11 a.m. Saturday, Eagle County sheriff’s Lt. Kim Andre told the Vail Daily. He was skiing on an intermediate run In The Wuides in Blue Sky Basin on Vail Mountain.
Vail Ski Resort didn’t provide details of the latest accident. Andre said he was wearing a helmet.
At least 20 people have died from skiing or snowboarding accidents in Colorado this season, including three who were in the backcountry.
