PUEBLO, Colo.—A homeowner who was burning weeds after the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for fire conditions was expected to be ticketed, after the fire ignited a shed and three parked cars.

Pueblo County sheriff’s Sgt. Warren Watts said the homeowner, who wasn’t identified, would be cited for third-degree arson because the fire spread to a neighbor’s yard and charred a vehicle there Saturday.

No injuries were reported.

The red flag warning was issued for 14 counties in southeastern Colorado, including Pueblo County, because of dry, breezy weather that could create “explosive fire growth potential.”
