WASHINGTON — A Fort Carson soldier was killed Tuesday in Baghdad.

Maj. Mark E. Rosenberg, 32, of Miami Lakes, Fla., was killed when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team. According to the latest Associated Press count, 4,029 American troops have died in Iraq since the war began five years ago. Rosenberg is the 236th soldier from Fort Carson to have been killed.
