Police are searching for a man classified as a sexually violent predator after he was convicted three times in New York for sexual crimes, authorities say.
John Elmer Metrose, 33, failed to register his new address as required by law after he was evicted from the Roadway Inn, 1623 S. Nevada Ave., on March 21, said Lt. Skip Arms, Colorado Springs police spokesman.
He has two felony convictions in New York for sexual abuse in the first degree and a misdemeanor conviction for sexual misconduct, Arms said.
Metrose also has been convicted of failure to register as a sex offender, aggravated motor-vehicle theft and felony child endangerment, he said.
He has a case pending in El Paso County Court on violation of bail-bond conditions, Arms said.
An arrest warrant with $10,000 bail was signed this morning, he said.
