DENVER—A storm dumped up to 13 inches of snow in the Colorado mountains and along the Front Range, forcing the postponement of the Atlanta Braves-Colorado Rockies game and closing part of Interstate 70 in eastern Colorado.
The Wolf Creek and Winter Park ski resorts reported 13 new inches Thursday. National Weather Service meteorologist Kyle Fredin says 11 inches fell in the foothills and mountains around Virginia Dale near the Wyoming border.
The Denver area got between 1 and 3 inches, Fort Collins about an inch and Greeley 4 inches. Most of the snow melted as it hit the pavement.
A roughly 70-mile stretch of I-70 between Limon and Burlington closed Thursday evening in high winds, blowing snow and icy conditions.
