Rookie guard Coby Karl and the Los Angeles D-Fenders eliminated the Colorado 14ers from the NBA Development League playoffs with a 102-95 victory Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Karl is on his third assignment with the D-Fenders this season. He scored seven points and had five assists in 33 1/2 minutes against the 14ers.

Errick Craven’s game-high 22 points led Los Angeles, which trailed by six points at halftime before rallying in the final two quarters. Billy Thomas led Colorado with 20 points.

Injury sidelines CU’s Lockridge.

Colorado sophomore tailback Brian Lockridge said he has been ruled out of the Buffs’ spring football game Saturday at Folsom Field and will undergo surgery next week for a sports hernia that was diagnosed this past weekend.

Lockridge said doctors believe he initially suffered the injury in November in the game at Iowa State and that it was aggravated in a scrimmage last Saturday.

“I’ll be ready for the preseason practices, no doubt about that,” Lockridge said Tuesday.

Fort Lewis junior Luke Tanner shot a final-round, even-par 71 on Tuesday and led from start to finish in winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s championship at Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango.

Tanner finished at 4-under 209, two shots ahead of Todd Napikoski of CU-Colorado Springs at 211.

CU-Colorado Springs topped seven other schools to win the team title at 6-over 858. Fort Lewis was second at 863 and Western New Mexico third at 870.

Lubick working for credit union.

Former Colorado State football coach Sonny Lubick is starting a part- time position this week as vice president for the Fort Collins offices of the Public Service Credit Union (formerly Norlarco Credit Union). — Natalie Meisler

CSU hires assistant coach.

Jenn Bradley, a graduate of Arvada West High School and a former assistant coach at Santa Clara, has joined the Colorado State women’s basketball team as an assistant coach.
