CENTENNIAL — The Centennial City Council voted unanimously Monday to award CH2M Hill OMI a five-year contract to provide public works services.

The move will allow the city to exercise more control over public works operations and local decisions. Previously, the city partnered with Arapahoe County to provide snow removal, street maintenance and traffic engineering.

But Arapahoe County requested a 10-year deal with increased capital contributions, and the city was not ready to enter into such a long-term deal, City Manager Jacque Wedding- Scott said.

The CH2M Hill OMI contract is worth about $4 million from June to December 2008 and $8.6 million in 2009.
