WELLINGTON, New Zealand — Six high school students and a teacher on a hiking trip died after being swept away by a flash flood Tuesday. Four other students and an instructor were rescued from the Mangatepopo River in North Island’s Tongariro National Park.
The teens from Auckland were part of a group of 40 students attending a week-long education course at the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Center in Turangi.
