A federal magistrate judge denied a request Tuesday to have Vice President Dick Cheney deposed in a civil case filed by Steven Howards, who claims he was wrongly arrested at an outdoor mall area in Beaver Creek after telling the vice president that he opposed the war in Iraq.
“I am not foreclosing, at some future point, the need to depose the Vice President in connection with this case,” U.S. District Magistrate Judge Craig B. Shaffer wrote in his 23-page opinion. “This court simply finds that plaintiff has not made a sufficient showing to warrant that deposition at this time.”
