CASPER, Wyo.—The Wyoming Department of Family Services is looking into “serious allegations” at a privately run juvenile detention center in Casper.

DFS spokeswoman Juliette Rule is not saying what may have happened at the center although she says the allegations are unusual for Wyoming.

The detention center has room for up to 40 juveniles ages 12 to 17 and has been run by Frontier Correctional Systems Inc. The private company based in Cheyenne also runs a juvenile detention and treatment center in Cheyenne.

Operations at both facilities are being taken over by Cornerstone Programs of Colorado. Neither Cornerstone nor FCS officials returned messages left Wednesday.
