BURBANK, Calif. — Following the box-office success of “March of the Penguins,” the Walt Disney Co. said Monday it has launched a film-production unit called Disneynature to produce and distribute documentary films through at least 2012.
The first film to be released in the U.S. will be “Earth” on Earth Day, April 22, 2009. A separate version of the BBC Worldwide and Greenlight Media production was previously released in France, Japan and Germany.
