The University of Colorado Board of Regents voted today to increase tuition beginning next year by 9.3 percent for undergraduate, in-state students.

Board members cited lack of funding from the state as the reason for the hike.

Tuition for most students would increase $504, for an annual cost of $5,922.

This year’s increase follows one last year, when the regents voted to raise tuition for the majority of in-state undergraduates by 14.6 percent.

“We just do not get the funding in the state of Colorado,” said CU President Bruce Benson. “Let’s take a hard look at a statutory change next year.”
