The Lakers know changes are coming in how the Nuggets defend them. One adjustment Los Angeles is looking for is more zone defense from the Nuggets.
“Seeing that they somewhat liked the results they got out of playing some zone defense (in Game 1), I think they feel it takes away our ability to score in the paint so easily,” guard Derek Fisher said Tuesday after practice.
“I think we’ll see more zone, which kind of forces us to shoot more perimeter shots, which then helps jumpstart their fast break if we don’t make them.”
More intensity?
Game 1 featured its fair share of technical fouls, trash talking and physical play. But it’s nothing the Lakers are complaining about. And they expect more.
“For us, it’s not something that we give any thought to,” guard Kobe Bryant said. “It’s not something that we talk about or even address or even comes up. Charge it to the game, just being playoff basketball, just being intense, guys getting after it. We’ll just have to see how Game 2 rolls out.”
Injury updates.
Lakers forward Ronny Turiaf (sore throat) practiced Tuesday and is expected to be ready to play in tonight’s Game 2. Also, center D.J. Mbenga, who took a knee to the ribs at the end of Monday’s practice, will be available if needed, Lakers coach Phil Jackson said.
