Getting your player ready...
Now on the clock, the St. Louis Rams.
All the suspense at the top of the NFL draft was removed Tuesday when the Miami Dolphins announced an agreement with Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long to become the No. 1 overall pick. Long, 6-feet-7 and 315 pounds, signed a five-year deal with $30 million guaranteed, automatically making him the highest-paid lineman in the NFL. (What’s wrong with this picture?)
Long becomes the cornerstone of Bill Parcells’ cleanup effort for Miami, which was 1-15 a season ago.
“Jake was our guy from the beginning,” general manager Jeff Ireland said.
