Officials from the Toronto Stock Exchange were in town Tuesday to lure companies north in their search for capital.
About 27 Colorado companies trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange or its smaller sister, the TSX Venture Exchange, more than any other state in the U.S.
The exchanges are the largest hosts to publicly traded mining and energy companies in the world, and they have recently begun pushing to dominate “clean technology” industries.
Doug Silver, president and chief executive of Arapahoe County-based International Royalty Corp., said Canadians are more welcoming of natural-resource companies and that regulators there are more understanding of speculative ventures.
