Frontier Airlines announced this morning that it is discontinuing service on six routes.

Service to Missoula, Mont., from Denver will not begin as had been planned.

Service to Sioux City, Iowa, will end May 12.

Flights to Jacksonville, Fla.; Little Rock, Ark.; Memphis, Tenn.; Tulsa, Okla. will end at the end of May.

Frontier also announce it is ending its code-sharing agreement with Republic Airways and its 12 aircraft, to be completed by mid-June.

“We appreciate the great job Republic has done in helping us serve our customers,” said Frontier President and CEO Sean Menke in a news release. “Republic, while operating under the Frontier brand, provided a safe, efficient and customer-friendly product that is hallmark to our company. Unfortunately with current economic conditions and other business changes, we have been forced to drastically rethink the use of regional aircraft in our fleet mix.”

Frontier filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy April 11.

“We have enjoyed our partnership with Frontier and have a lot of respect for their people,” Republic CEO Bryan Bedford said in the news release.

“It’s unfortunate that despite their many efforts to reorganize their business outside of Chapter 11, factors beyond their control conspired to force a deeper reorganization. We wish them success in their continuing efforts to combat persistently high oil prices.”

Frontier said customers who have already purchased tickets on the affected routes can get refunds and make alternative arrangements with a Frontier representative or their travel agent.
