Noon Friday is the deadline to schedule an appointment with a professional antiques appraiser during Saturday’s Antique Appraisal Fair at the Aurora History Museum, 15051 E. Alameda Parkway. This is the seventh year that members of the public have descended on the museum for one spring day to have experts survey collectible dishes, jewelry, artwork, dolls, coins, tapestries and more. More than 85 bead vendors stocking everything from pearls to handmade glass, demonstrations and classes are part of the Bead Bazaar happening Saturday and Sunday at the Denver Merchandise Mart, 451 E. 58th Ave. The annual event is hosted by the Rocky Mountain Bead Society, a local nonprofit committed to educating the public about beads and beadwork. Paper chase

Lauren Pearlman founded her company, Paper Connection, in 1995 and has since become one of the country’s largest importers of fine Japanese paper. Just back from Japan, where she lives half the year, Pearlman will appear at Kozo Fine Art Materials (10 E. Ellsworth Ave.) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to show pictures from her travels and discuss the skill and history behind Japan’s beautiful Yuzen paper, which generally features lush scenes and detailed patterns.
