DETROIT — Placido Polanco and Magglio Ordoñez each drove in two runs, and the Detroit Tigers beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-4 on Saturday for their fourth win in five games.

Tigers rookie Armando Galarraga didn’t get a decision after pitching 5 2/3 hitless innings to start the game. He wound up allowing three runs — one earned — on three hits and two walks in six-plus innings. Todd Jones, the fourth Detroit pitcher, got his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.

CHICAGO — Brian Anderson hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth as Chicago gained a split of a day-night doubleheader. Brian Burres allowed three singles in eight shutout innings for Baltimore in the first game.
