The Broncos remained in the Mid-American Conference with their second pick in the fourth round, selecting Jack Williams, a 5-foot-9, 186-pound cornerback from Kent State.

Earlier in the round, Denver selected Bowling Green center Kory Lichtensteiger.

A native of Norfolk, Va., Williams recorded three interceptions and eight pass breakups as a senior last fall despite being slowed by a shoulder injury. He sat out one full game due to the injury.

“It was pretty tough to play through it,” Williams said. “But I told my coaches that I was not going to let injuries affect me.

“I’m sure that was a big concern for a lot of (NFL) teams. It probably kept some away.”

Williams said his shoulder is 100-percent now.

Of the Broncos, Williams said, “I know they’ve got my style of play (in the defensive secondary), with Champ (Bailey) and Dre Bly. I’m looking forward to it.”

Williams became the first defensive player selected by the Broncos in this draft.
