“Novel Destinations: Literary Landmarks from Jane Austen’s Bath to Ernest Hemingway’s Key West” ($25, National Geographic) is a dream come true for reading enthusiasts who also travel — simply look up your favorite author in the index and find out what there is to visit connected to that writer or his or her works.

For instance, under Laura Ingalls Wilder, there’s the home and museum in Mansfield, Mo. For poet William Butler Yeats, one could visit some of the United Kingdom landscapes that inspired his pieces or Thoor Ballylee, the Irish castle he purchased and restored for his wife and children.

Included in most entries are basic visitor’s information and relevant literary references, as well as further reading options and more links for travel opportunities. The second half of the book offers up 10 famous areas made so by authors such as Louisa May Alcott (Concord, Mass.) and James Joyce (Dublin).
