Bad fumble for Avs.
Henrik Zetterberg assisted on Detroit’s first goal, fumbling the puck just before Pavel Datsyuk capitalized on the mistake to tie it 1-1.
Stastny injured.
Paul Stastny (left), one of the Avs’ top centers, suffered a knee injury in the first period and played only 7 minutes, 10 seconds. Colorado already was without injured forwards Marek Svatos, Wojtek Wolski and Ryan Smyth.
Too many early penalties.
The Avs trailed 4-2 heading into the third period and had committed 14 minutes of penalties to Detroit’s four. The Red Wings built their lead behind two power-play goals.
