DENVER—The Colorado Rockies have put right-handed pitcher Kip Wells on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Monday because of a blood clot in his hand.

Infielder Jonathan Herrera was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs Wednesday to take Wells’ roster spot. Herrera was expected to be available for Wednesday’s game at San Francisco.

The 31-year-old Wells is 1-1 with a 2.29 ERA in 10 games and one start this season.

His last outing was Monday when he walked both San Francisco batters he faced in relief.
