AURORA, Colo.—Police arrested 20 people suspected of participating in an identity theft ring that pilfered more than $400,000 from victims across the state.

Aurora and Denver police accuse the group of breaking into cars to get information they later used to obtain credit cards and forging documents.

Police say they arrested 13 of the suspects Thursday after a Denver grand jury indictment. Four of the remaining suspects were expected to surrender to police and the other three are in other states.

Aurora Police Chief Daniel Oates says the group’s operations reached Ft. Collins and Colorado Springs.

Police say the group divvied their responsibilities based on expertise. They say the group had an online expert, another who broke into cars, and someone who specialized in making fake IDs.
