Fliers’ 2nd-bag fees start today

United Airlines today begins charging passengers $25 to check a second bag. Elite frequent-flier members — those with premier status or higher on United — will be able to check two bags for free. Continental, Northwest and US Airways also begin charging most passengers the $25 fee today.
