Roger Clemens apologized the other day for unspecified mistakes in his personal life. Let me guess. He wanted to specify which mistakes they were, but he misremembered them.
How do you apologize for something when you don’t say what that something is? Is he sorry for global warming or sneaking around on his wife? For taking human growth hormone or the price of gas?
Clemens claims the New York Daily News stories chronicling his off-field night-life escapades are filled with false accusations and mistakes, but doesn’t say what they are. What false accusations? What mistakes? Come on, Roger. … Roger?
Sadly, it has gotten to the point where we can’t believe much of anything Clemens says. Maybe he’s telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. But given all those allegations and his nonsensical denials, it’s impossible to think so.
Just like it’s impossible to think of Clemens ever being elected to the Hall of Fame.
