MISSOULA, Mont.—Former Colorado State running backs coach Mick Delaney is the new running backs coach at Montana, coach Bobby Hauck said Wednesday.

Delaney is a Butte native and has coached at Colorado State for the past 14 years.

“Mick has been a friend and a colleague for many years,” Hauck said. “He is an outstanding addition to our staff. to bring someone on board with his experience is a real plus for us.”

Delaney was head football coach and athletics director at Montana Western during the 1991-92 school year, before moving to Colorado State.

He was athletics director at Montana Tech from 1983-85, assistant football coach at Montana State from 1976-80 and an assistant at Montana during the 1968-69 school year.

Delaney worked for coach Sonny Lubick at both Montana State and Colorado State.

Delaney, who has already started his coaching duties at Montana, replaces Mike Hudson as running backs coach for the Griz. Hudson will now coach the secondary, after Tim Hauck left to take a similar position at UCLA.
