MILWAUKEE — After blowing his major league-leading fifth save on Friday night in a 4-3 loss to the Brewers, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said Saturday embattled reliever Jason Isringhausen will no longer be the team’s closer.

Vernon Wells will go from leading the Blue Jays in home runs and RBIs to leading the team in cheers after the two-time all-star outfielder was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a broken left wrist. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks.
• Star shortstop Hanley Ramirez has agreed to the framework of a $70 million, six-year contract to remain with the Marlins.
