If the Penguins oust the Flyers and the Red Wings eliminate the Stars, it will set up something the NHL has not seen in a long time: a Stanley Cup Finals between two cities that are relatively close to each other. Finals involving Detroit and Pittsburgh, which are 211 miles apart, would be the closest geographically since the Islanders and the Flyers traveled the 95 miles between Uniondale, N.Y., and Philadelphia to meet in 1980.
