Three people were seriously injured after a man snatched a woman off a Denver street and crashed into a pickup truck and a tree when police attempted to pull him over Saturday.

Denver police responding to a report of a possible domestic kidnapping spotted the van near Arizona Avenue and Perry Street, Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. “They must have known each other, but he was forcibly taking her from the location.”

When they tried to stop the driver he ran a stop sign at Louisiana Avenue and Perry Street. The van struck a blue pickup in the intersection and then hit a tree, Jackson said.

The driver of the pickup as well as the van driver and the woman were injured. The woman sustained the most serious injuries.

Police haven’t identified any of the parties involved, and charges are pending.
