BOULDER — A lawyer assessing the estate of a 96-year-old Boulder County woman who died last week found what appears to be dynamite on her property.
Sheriff’s deputies, members of the county’s bomb team and firefighters are investigating the discovery at the home of Francie Clark, about 6 miles northwest of Boulder.
Richard Lopez, a local attorney, found a box containing 50 pounds of material in a shed on the property, at 7736 Lefthand Canyon Drive.
Clark, who had lived in the house since 1949, had told Lopez before she died that she had the explosives.
Lopez told sheriff’s deputies that there was a mine shaft on the property, but he didn’t know if it had ever been actively worked.
Dupont manufactured the dynamite in October 1950, according to the wooden crate in which it was found.
