PHOENIX — His team saddled with a three-game losing streak, manager Clint Hurdle shook up his lineup today, inserting center fielder Ryan Spillborghs in the leadoff spot.

Willie Taveras has struggled to make contact in recent games, while Spillborghs has been one of the Rockies’ best hitters this season.

For the first time, Omar Quintanilla and Jonathan Herrera are starting together up the middle, with Quintanilla manning shortstop.

Catcher Chris Iannetta also returns to the lineup after a two-game absence.

On the injury front, reliever Ryan Speier admitted that he will not try to throw today, leaving it possible that he could wind up on the disabled list if his bruised rotator cuff doesn’t improve soon.
