Forecasters warn of more late-season snow for the mountains and foothills west of Denver overnight.

Upper-level moisture is expected to meet northeasterly winds and drop widespread snowfall across the region.

A snow advisory will remain until noon Thursday for the mountains, with more than four inches of accumulation, mostly east of the Continental Divide and on east-facing slopes, according to the Weather Service.

Snow could cause some problems for travelers, forecasters warn.

Rain is likely in the metro region after midnight, and the low should be about 39 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain also is expected overnight on the Eastern Plains and a mix of rain and snow over higher elevations of the Palmer Divide, the weather service reports.

On Thursday, rain is expected in Denver, and afternoon thunderstorms could rumble over the city. Thursday’s high temperature should be about 55 degrees, and winds could gust up to 23 mph.

The state’s wet weather should decrease from north to south Thursday afternoon, with showers and snow showers lingering over the central and southern mountains Thursday night.

Dry, sunny and warm weather is on its way for the weekend. Denver’s high could hit 78 degrees Saturday and 82 degrees on Sunday.
