A broad range of high school student-athletes has been selected as finalists for 2007-08 school-year honors. Ten students will be feted Wednesday by The Denver Post, The Denver Athletic Club and 9News as part of The DAC’s annual professional athlete of the year banquet. From the past August to Tuesday’s cap to the 87th school sports year on in-state record, these Colora- dans, regardless of class or sport, excelled in athletics, academics and character. Winners will be chosen for male and female student-athletes of the year in a program that began in 1996. The DAC, which will honor Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki as its pro athlete of the year; former Colorado State football coach Sonny Lubick for career achievement; and its club athletes; will host festivities beginning at 5:30 p.m., including a silent auction, and dinner at 7 p.m. Information, 303-534-1211.
