DENVER—Gov. Bill Ritter signed three education bills Wednesday as part of his education reform package:
— The Colorado Achievement Plan for Kids aligns the educational system from preschool through college and establishes new standards and assessments.
— Early Kindergarten for Gifted Children provides early kindergarten or first grade for gifted children.
— Interdepartmental Data Protocols creates a streamlined education data system that connects different departments for improving research and policy.
Ritter said he would sign a fourth bill as soon as it arrived at his desk:
— The School Finance Act allows 6,254 at-risk 3- and 4-year-olds to attend preschools, expands full-day kindergarten to 7,000 more children next school year and to more than 22,000 students over five years.
