GOLDEN — Nanette Lafleur, a 17-year-old charged in the death of another teen, today pleaded guilty to two felonies.
Lafleur originally was charged with nine counts, but a plea agreement reduced those to two: vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, and vehicular assault, DUI.
The high school junior was driving a Ford Explorer that crossed a double-yellow-lined median on West Alameda Parkway on March 13, 2007, and slammed head-on into a Honda Accord.
The Honda was driven by Seth Mutschler, 20, who was critically injured but survived. His passenger, Samara Stricklen, 17, was killed.
Immediately after the impact, according to authorities, Lafleur told Alison Bowen, 16, whose parents owned the Explorer, to get into the driver’s seat.
Bowen told police she was the driver, but it was later learned that she had lied to authorities.
As part of the plea agreement, Lafleur’s sentence will include four years of incarceration at a state youth facility in Pueblo.
Her sentencing will be July 9.
The store clerk who sold liquor to the teens pleaded guilty this morning to 10 misdemeanor counts.
Van Thien Pham could be sentenced to up to 10 months in jail and fined up to $5,000 for each count, according to the district attorney’s office.
