John Barrasso said Thursday that he will kick off his campaign Monday to defend his U.S. Senate seat in Wyoming. Barrasso, a Republican, is a physician and former state senator. Gov. Dave Freudenthal appointed him last summer to replace Sen. Craig Thomas after Thomas died of leukemia. No other Republicans are running for Barrasso’s seat. The two Democrats running — former state Sen. Keith Goodenough and Gillette attorney Nick Carter — suggested Thursday that Barrasso will be a formidable candidate.
