BOULDER — It wasn’t exactly pistols at 30 paces, but police say a private security guard and a bartender shot each other with Tasers in a “bonehead” confrontation over parking.

Neither man needed medical attention but the bartender, Harvey Epstein, was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing and using a stun gun.

Police said Epstein got into an argument with security guard Casey Dane on Saturday after a metal boot was clamped on a wheel of Epstein’s car to immobilize it for an alleged parking violation.

It wasn’t immediately clear who put the boot on Epstein’s car.

Police Sgt. Pat Wyton said Epstein left, then returned with bolt cutters and tried to remove the boot.

Dane warned Epstein he would shoot him with a Taser if he didn’t stop, and Epstein pulled his own Taser from his pocket, Wyton said.

“They shot each other,” he said. “It was just kind of a bonehead deal.”

It wasn’t clear immediately clear what Dane’s assignment was at the time of the confrontation.

Epstein had no listed phone number and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
