DENVER—Boulder resident Justin Mock won the annual Post-News Colorado Colfax Marathon for the second straight year, in an event that drew the largest number of participants in the race’s three-year history.

The 26-year-old finished the 26.2-mile race in 2:43.27, while 22-year-old Tristan Mitchell finished in 2:47.46 to take second place.

Forty-three-year old Lisa Marie Goldsmith of Nederland won the women’s race with a time of 3:12.51 and 46-year-old Peggy Panzer of Aurora took second place, finishing in 3:17.45.

Event spokeswoman Liz Easterly says 5,216 participated in the various races Sunday. She says that’s the largest number of participants since the event started in 2006. The event drew 4,654 people last year.

The marathon started in Denver’s City Park, extended to Lakewood, and circled back to City Park.
