ESTES PARK, COLO. — The 1,300-acre Hermit Park retreat near Estes Park will open to the public on Friday as a Larimer County park.
The park has 13 cabins and 28 campsites and offers hiking, abundant wildlife and sweeping views of Longs Peak.
The county bought the site in 2007 from Agilent Technologies for a discounted $6.5 million. Hewlett-Packard, the company that spun of Agilent, had bought the site in 1967 as a retreat for its employees.
The county’s long-term plans include building dozens more campsites and five more cabins, relocating two other cabins and possibly adding other amenities.
