K2 Sports has recalled some 2,500 pairs of snowboard bindings.

The cable that links the toe strap to the binding could break, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release. The affected bindings are the K2 “Auto” series bindings, model year 2007. They could be black or white and “K2” and “Auto” are printed on the toe strap.

The bindings were sold nationwide from August 2007 through May 2008 and retailed for about $230.

Anyone owning the bindings in question should stop using them and take them back to the point of purchase or contact K2 Sports directly to arrange for free shipment and repair.

K2 Sports can be reached at autobindingupgrade@k2sports.com or (800) 985-2191 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
