GOLDEN, Colo.—Elizabeth Kresock wasn’t troubled about her five stroke deficit entering the final round of the Class 4A state girls golf championships on Tuesday. The Colorado Academy junior was more concerned about her team’s title hopes.
“During the summertime you can think about individual trophies,” Kresock said. “But in the spring it’s all about team.”
Colorado Academy won the team title and Kresock took medalist honors at the par 73, 5,909-yard Rolling Hills Golf Club.
Colorado Academy won the team title with a score of 505. Kent Denver was second at 525.
Kresock trailed Olivia Garard of Kent Denver by five shots as play began Tuesday. Kresock tied Garard on the 14th hole with a 20-foot putt, then took the lead on the par 5, 15th hole with a 2-footer for birdie.
She wasn’t in the clear as she bogeyed the next two holes. Kresock won the tournament by sinking a 10-foot putt for birdie on No. 18.
Kresock finished with a two-day total of 4-over par 150. Garard was three strokes back at 153.
