Passers-by not only called for help, they also jumped in and fought a blaze at a Laporte home yesterday, authorities say.
When firefighters arrived at the two-story home at 4801 Kiva Drive at 3:11 p.m., most of the fire had already been put out, said Capt. Patrick Love of the Poudre Fire Authority.
“Due to the quick actions of these unknown people, the major portion of this house was saved from any further damage as the fire was only seconds from getting inside,” Love said.
Family members living at the home were able to get their children out of the home safely, he said.
Seventeen firefighters extinguished what was left of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was injured.
